PROLOGUE - 1. MOVE TO THE EAST COAST . . .WHAT?

CIRCA FALL 2017

I will never forget that evening 5 years ago, when I posed the question to Tim, as we were attempting to see the space station travel across our very limited night sky, “What do you think about moving to North Carolina?” You would have thought I just asked him if he wanted us to have another baby for a retirement activity. WHAT?!!!

God provided the funding and put everything we needed in front of us at the time we needed it, including: a solid, reliable and quality remodeler, Jeff McCutcheon, who would work on our house off and on for 2.5 years updating our 1900’s home. An 8x8x16’ cargo trailer, which would take trips across the country bringing all our equipment. A pre-owned Ford F250 to replace the old and tired F150, which we surmised would not be able to manage the loaded cargo trailer.

An amazing buyer for our farm, who would enable us to gradually move all our stuff for 6 months after we closed. A new, big, beautiful night sky, where we can see numerous stars and constellations. A neighborhood of wonderful people who have brought us much joy and are teaching us about our new area. A supportive Extension Service, with a Master Gardner Program, where I could learn about the land and plants. Two real estate teams to support my business, one in St. Louis (the Dillmon Team) and one in North Carolina (the McCollum Realty Team) both of which would enable me to continue my real estate practice in two states (yes, I am licensed in NC and MO and actively practicing). And, so much more.
