MEET THE FARM FAMILY

BARN CATS ARE ESSENTIAL ON A FARM

Most of my life has been spent in a rural setting or in neighborhoods with 3+ acre lots and with a cat and dog as pets (sometimes pigs and chickens as well). When Tim and I married, he too had a cat, so we elected to keep up that tradition with having "live mousers" in our home.

Currently, we have 4 barn cats. They stay outside most of the time, and come inside for safety during the night hours. They also keep us company and can be found nearby whenever we are outside playing or working.

Meet LUCY. She is our peacemaker. She gets along with everyone, people and cats as well. When you stop by, you will see her coming by to see who is here and get a pet on the head. She will allow you to pick her up, but only for a moment. She likes to be near, but not cuddled very much.

JOSIE is Lucy's sister, soft as a bunny rabbit. Tim got them both at the same time, after all, how can you split up a family. Josie's domain is the barn. She makes sure Tim is working or at least not making too much noise so she can get in her daytime naps. Josie is our lover. Pick her up and you have a friend for life. Caution, she has real claws and loves to gently give you acupuncture treatments as she cuddles with you. However, she does have one nemesis - Little Bit.

CALLIE is our Persian. She looks so sweet and fluffy and cuddly - do not let that fool you. She a most vicious fighter, great hunter and rarely visible to anyone but family. Ask Tim how much fun it was getting her into the pet carrier when we moved from St. Louis. Hint, a first-aid kit was required to stop all the bleeding. However, he was not going to leave her behind.

Together, we all enjoy the farm, and are so grateful to have a wonderful home to share.
